I've had this player for about 5 months now. It had a bunch of good reviews from trusted sources, so I bought it as an upgrade from my 8GB Sony. Now I regret it. From the first use I never really liked it, and I like it less and less every time I use it. Here's why:
- The touch screen is sometimes unresponsive and always finicky. By unresponsive I mean, it will ignore presses seemingly at random. By finicky, what I mean is, it often selects something other than what you wanted to select. When browsing lists of artist/albums/songs, it is very easy to hit the wrong one. Also, the player will mistakenly interpret 'presses' as 'flicks' fairly often, so you will go to select something, and BAM! away you scroll to the other end of whatever list it was you were browsing. At first I thought it was just me, but after trying more touch screen players, it is clear that the touch screen in this one is just not very good at responding to input.
- The UI is very sluggish ... browsing between songs/albums there is about a 1/2 to 1 second delay in between selecting something and actually seeing the results of the selection. In some cases, the delay appears due to loading stuff, in other cases, it is the result of Samsung putting totally pointless animations on the menu elements. Combined with the flaky touch screen, the delays are an absolute killer to the usability of this product because you so often end up needing to go 'back'. Also, there is visible tearing in the screen image when you scroll through lists of stuff, which isn't really a huge deal but all the same I find it annoying.
- The sound quality isn't terrible, but it isn't nearly as good as what I was hoping for. I could never seem to get it to where I liked it after any amount of fiddling with the EQ. Again, it's not terrible, but it definitely lacked the clarity and depth that I was used to.
- After plugging it in to the computer, it takes too long to be recognized. It often takes about a minute before it shows up. This happens on multiple computers, and only with this device, so I know it's not an issue with the PC. I never even used the emodio software. Once it is recognized things seem to work OK over MTP, never had any problems there.
- The unit takes too long to power on, in part because of a frivolous startup animation with some inane sound effect. It also plays a sound effect when it powers off, which it will do when you aren't using it. So you'll just be sitting there doing your own thing and then it plays its little shutdown sound. After this you have to mash and hold its little power button, and wait for 3-5 seconds before it's back to where you left it.
- Album art frequently fails to transfer over properly so you get the 'no album art' placeholder. Also, it can get confused if you have 2 albums by the same name -- it will show album art for the older album with the newer songs.
- The navigation is not that great, it takes too many presses to do important things like 'go to the home screen' or 'go back to what is playing'. When you are listening to a song, you can traverse back up the hierarchy but not forward, so if you say go up a level or two, and then you want to go back to the currently playing song, here is what you have to do: hit the 'speaker' icon, which opens a menu containing the 'home' icon, which takes you to the home screen, where you select 'music', which opens a list where the first option is 'now playing', which takes you where you want to be.
- Some options related to music playback are not immediately accessible from the music playback screen, most notably the equalizer. You have to go back to Settings on the home screen in order to get to the EQ.
There's more but you get the point. I can't really recommend this player for anybody because of the issues with navigation / unresponsiveness / sluggishness. I've updated the firmware and it didn't help so I've basically given up on this player. I really wanted to like this but I just can't, and I have now replaced it with something that works a lot better.

I already have Yepp-S3 MP3 player, but i wanted another one with bigger memory. and i actually made dicision to get P3, because it's from samsung Yepp. it is the most trustful company among all the other companies! the interface is so pretty and the quality of the video is really good. really love it!
Cannot shuffle all songs - useless for me August 4, 2010

This review refers to the Samsung YP-P3 Firmware version 2.22
As I just found out through personal contact to samsung support, this absolutely great sounding player does'nt have a standard 'shuffle-mode'.
It can only shuffle songs within one folder, you can never shuffle between artist or albums unless you put EVERYTHING in one folder.
There are some more software-bugs concerning the menu-programming but what the heck :-)
Don't get me wrong: This is a fantastic sounding Player (I use Ultimate Ears Triple Pro Inears) but no shuffle? Ridiculous !
This posting is an oficial attempt to make products better by posting the obvious in the relevant places online.
Dear Samsungs, as soon as you have fixed this BIG BUG, please post here as well and let us know!

I bought yp-p3 at the online market on Sep.2009. Now this is a garbage because of power on/off.
When i running with this YP-P3 The power is off authmatically.
So I shaked this I could hear any innner noise.
PLS. Don't buy this garbage. The service is more garbage. I asked for repairment but i had to listen to what i have to prove this accident.

Do not buy this Samsung product. If you do a quick Google search, you will see that this product has a chronic issue with the headphone jack coming loose from the main circuit board causing static and missing sound from the left or right side. My unit developed this problem when it was slightly more that a year old, which put it out of warranty. Samsung quoted a repair price of $107 and refused to stand by their product, even when they know it is a common issue. Do yourself a favor and go with another, more reliable manufacturer.
